Parklands Names New Manager For Flagship Inverness Care Home

Parklands Care Homes has appointed a care professional with two decades of experience in social care to manage its new flagship care home in Inverness.

Jaime McNab joins Parklands from NHS Highland, where she served as the Lead Nurse for Care Homes and Care at Home services.

The multi-million-pound Pittyvaich Care Home is set to open in the Milton of Leys area of the city in May, providing 58 care beds and creating around 120 jobs, including nurses, carers and ancillary support roles.

Jaime began her career in social care 20 years ago as a carer before qualifying as a nurse 15 years ago. She has since held various clinical and leadership roles across the Highlands. An experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner and District Nurse, Jaime was named a Queen’s Nurse in 2022 by The Queen’s Nursing Institute for Scotland, which supports, develops, and inspires Scotland’s community nurses to become agents for health improvement and catalysts for social change.

Ron Taylor, managing director of Parklands, said, “We are delighted to appoint Jaime McNab to manage our new home in Inverness. She is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in social care and will bring a wealth of expertise to the role.

“Our investment in Inverness reflects Parklands’ continued commitment to provide high-quality care where it’s needed most. It responds to the critical shortage of care beds in the Highlands, where over 200 have been lost in the past two years. By providing 58 new care beds and creating 120 high-quality jobs, Pittyvaich will play a vital role in strengthening the care sector and supporting the local community.

Jaime said, “I am thrilled to be appointed as manager of Pittyvaich Care Home in Inverness. As Parklands’ flagship home, I am excited about the opportunities it presents for both the residents and the local community. I look forward to working closely with residents, their families, and the wider community to create a welcoming, supportive home that is very much at the heart of Inverness.

“Expectations will rightly be high, and I am determined to lead a team that delivers the high-quality care for which Parklands is known. With so many beds being lost across the region, this investment by Parklands is both critical and timely, responding directly to the urgent need for care in our community.”

Pittyvaich will become the 13th care home in the Parklands group, which was founded in Buckie in 1993. The family run care group has its headquarters in Grantown on Spey.

The new home is named after the former Pittyvaich whisky distillery, once managed by Ron Taylor’s grandfather. As a student, Ron was his grandfather’s primary carer – a formative experience which later inspired him to establish Parklands.

A study commissioned by Parklands found that the company contributes £10 million a year to the Highland economy in gross value added, set to grow to £14.9 million by 2028 as the group expands.
