Parklands Care Homes has announced new partnerships with two much-loved local charities.
More than 20 local and national charities applied to be Parklands’ charity partner when applications opened last November. A shortlist was then presented to Parklands’ employees who were asked to vote for their preferred charity.
Employees at Parklands’ Moray and Aberdeenshire homes chose mental health charity Mikeysline, this year celebrating its 10th anniversary. Mikeysline works to break down stigma, support individuals and families facing mental health challenges and promote better mental health in schools and workplaces through campaigns like ‘Bee the Change.’
Meanwhile, staff at Parklands’ Highland homes selected Highland Hospice, a charity founded in 1983. Highland Hospice provides palliative and end-of-life care to adults across the Highlands. Its services include inpatient and outpatient care, support for patients, families, and carers, and a volunteer befriending service for individuals living at home with their illness.
The partnerships will span two years, during which Parklands employees, residents, and family members will be encouraged to support the chosen charities through fundraising, volunteering, and mentoring. In turn, the charities will work with Parklands to deliver a range of activities and workshops that will benefit residents and employees.
Donald Morrison, Director of Communications for Parklands Care Homes said: “We’d like to thank the many charities who applied to become our charity partner, as each one plays an important role in supporting local people. We are fortunate to have such dedicated organisations working to support the local community.
“It was clear from our staff vote that Highland Hospice and Mikeysline are two charities our teams feel passionately about, and we’re excited to work with them. Through this partnership, our residents and staff will support their fundraising and help raise awareness of the important services they provide.”
Karen Duff, Corporate fundraiser for Highland Hospice, said: “We are delighted to be one of Parklands’ chosen charities and greatly look forward to working together. Huge thanks to all the staff who chose the Hospice as a charity they’d like to support.
“Without generosity like this from the Highland community we simply wouldn’t be able to provide our exceptional care and support for individuals and families throughout the Highlands.”
Allana Stables, Bee The Change Manager at Mikeysline, said: “We feel very privileged to be chosen as one of the nominated charities of such an excellent care provider across our communities.
“As part of our Bee The Change Campaign we are all about being rooted in the local community and promoting intergenerational work. We look forward to seeing how this collaboration evolves.
“Everything raised locally stays local and supports our grass root services. Literally every single penny is a lifeline to our local people. Thank you, Parklands.”
Parklands has 12 care home across the north of Scotland – four in Highland, seven in Moray and one in Aberdeenshire. A new home is set to open in Inverness this spring.
