ICC spoke to Neil McGregor, Head of sales and Business Development. About his role, Neil said: “I joined the company in late March, just days after we were all locked down. After more than 16 years working in “traditional” media (radio and print), the opportunity arose to take the logical step into online and digital marketing. In my recent experience, more and more of my clients have been looking to increase their online presence, reduce marketing spend but increase sales – that is exactly what we aim to do at teclan, by targeting our clients sales message to people who are ready to engage. I will be helping to develop the businesses of our existing clients, developing the teclan brand itself and connecting with businesses who want to build their brand and increase their online presence and, ultimately, their revenue.
We asked Neil why Teclan would like to feature as member of the week: “In these very difficult times, many businesses will be happy to simply survive, whereas others have diversified their business model in order to grow. teclan are here to help every type of business make the most of online in order to achieve their goals. Neil told Inverness Chamber about their new service: “Our digital health check is a new service that we have created, especially for local businesses. You have to work hard to identify who your potential customers are and then encourage them to visit your site. This is our area of expertise.”
We asked Neil to share their business plans for the next 12 months: “teclan has grown considerably since our inception in 1999 and it’s our aim to continue to do so. People nowadays expect “on demand, 24/7 news, information and entertainment” – this can only be found online. My joining the company really signals our intent to drive the business forward to help even more businesses reach their potential customers in this rapidly growing media.”
Neil told us about their recent commendations: “We were one of the first Highland businesses to be Living Wage accredited, as well as one of the first Highland Firms to be signatories to the Scottish Business Pledge. We are a Google and Microsoft Bing accredited agency, and we are currently completing our ISO9001 accreditation.”
We asked Neil what teclan value most about their Inverness Chamber of Commerce membership: “The opportunity that the Chamber gives our business to connect to businesses across the Highlands and Islands, the support that the chamber offers its members and having our views, concerns and interests represented at local, regional and national government levels”
Neil provided his top-tip for other chamber members to maximise their chamber membership: “Attend as many events as you possibly can. Its all about getting your business known – for who you are as well as what you do. More so in the Highlands than anywhere else, people buy from people. It’s the connections and relationships you create and build that will help you become successful. The Chamber offers many opportunities to create these connections.”
