Young entrepreneurs from across the Highlands are being encouraged to apply for a unique opportunity to showcase their businesses at one of the region’s largest business events.
Inverness Chamber of Commerce and DYW Inverness & Central Highland have opened applications for the Rising Stars Zone at Highland Spotlight 2026, offering 10 sponsored exhibition spaces to emerging businesses led by entrepreneurs aged 35 or under.
Taking place on Tuesday 22 September at the Drumossie Hotel, Highland Spotlight is the Highlands’ biggest B2B exhibition, attracting businesses, organisations and decision-makers from across the region. The dedicated Rising Stars Zone gives young entrepreneurs the chance to showcase their ventures alongside some of the Highlands’ most established companies and connect directly with the wider business community.
The initiative reflects the shared commitment of Chamber and DYW to supporting young talent and helping emerging businesses establish themselves in the region.
Sandra McCaughey, Employer Engagement Manager for DYW Inverness & Central Highland explains, “One of our shared priorities is ensuring that talented young people can see a future for themselves in the Highlands. By creating opportunities such as the Rising Stars Zone, we’re helping young entrepreneurs develop their networks, raise their profile and demonstrate that exciting businesses can start and succeed right here in the region.”
For many business owners in the early stages of growth, exhibiting at a major event can be a significant milestone. It provides an opportunity to increase awareness of their business, start conversations with potential customers and gain valuable experience presenting their products and services face to face.
One entrepreneur who has already benefited from the programme is Onyinyechi Onyeiwu, founder of The African Cart and a previous Rising Stars participant.
Reflecting on her experience, she said, “Attending Highland Spotlight boosted my confidence in talking about and promoting the business face to face. I gained new connections and developed relationships that I would not otherwise have had.
“The event raised our profile and generated several leads, reinforcing my belief that there is genuine interest in what I’m doing.”
Applications are now open for ambitious entrepreneurs who are ready to take the next step in their business journey and become part of the 2026 Rising Stars cohort.
With places limited, interested business owners are encouraged to apply early. Successful applicants will receive a sponsored exhibition space within the Rising Stars Zone and the opportunity to engage directly with the wider Highland business community.
