Scotland’s leading rewilding event returns to Perth in September

Tickets are now on sale for The Big Picture Conference 2026, Scotland’s flagship event dedicated to rewilding, which returns to Perth Concert Hall on Saturday 19 September.

Centred around the themes of ‘Rewilding with people and place’ and ‘Coexistence in rewilded landscapes’, the event will tackle some of the most pressing and complex questions facing Scotland today – from restoring nature alongside productive land use and rural communities, to living well with returning wildlife and building new opportunities for people and nature.

Hosted by rewilding charity SCOTLAND: The Big Picture, the Big Picture Conference will bring together more than 600 people united in their commitment to rewilding – the recovery of the living systems we all depend on.

The conference features a line-up of high-profile speakers, including wildlife presenter and zoologist Megan McCubbin, author and science communicator Chantal Lyons, Rewilding Europe’s Head of Upscaling, Amy Duthie, Trees for Life CEO, Steve Micklewright, ethnologist and creative practitioner Dr Mairi McFadyen, and many others working at the forefront of nature recovery across Scotland and beyond.

Alongside keynote talks, attendees can choose from a diverse programme of workshops, discussions and break-out sessions exploring topics such as nature finance, careers in rewilding, ecological monitoring, woodland restoration, urban rewilding, amphibian and reptile conservation and community-led nature recovery.

“Our Big Picture Conference is Scotland’s leading gathering that focuses on rewilding in practice, bringing together the people shaping the future of land, policy, nature and communities,” explains the charity’s CEO, Lisa Chilton. “With a host of fantastic speakers delivering inspiring presentations and learning opportunities, attendees will leave better informed, better connected, moved and more confident to take action in their own spaces. We’re really looking forward to welcoming a wide ranging audience to Perth in September.”

Since launching in 2019, the biennial conference has become a focal point for Scotland’s growing rewilding movement, attracting land managers, rewilding practitioners, community groups, policymakers, researchers, students, businesses and nature enthusiasts from across the country.

This year’s programme reflects the growing momentum behind rewilding in Scotland, and the increasing recognition that nature recovery can deliver benefits for biodiversity, climate, local economies and communities alike.
