W M Donald Makes Construction Careers Come Alive at Millburn

W M Donald is proud to be shaping the future of the construction industry in Inverness by actively engaging with young talent, developing skills, and creating career pathways.

Their commitment to inspiring the next generation was on full display at a recent Technical Day at Millburn Academy, where they collaborated with Developing the Young Workforce (DYW), Volvo, Sunbelt, and Gap to provide an unforgettable hands-on learning experience for 70 S3 pupils.

The event was a resounding success, with pupils gaining first-hand exposure to key aspects of modern construction, including:

Drone Technology

Digger Operations

Bridge Construction

Monoblock Paving

Surveying Techniques

These initiative wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and expertise of W M Donald employees Rachel O’Donnell, Abbie Tuthill, Nathan Payne, John Petrie, and Lewis Hyde, who played a pivotal role in mentoring and guiding the pupils. Their enthusiasm and professionalism showcased the rewarding careers available within the Civil Engineering & Construction sector.

Building a Skilled Workforce in Inverness

Beyond engaging with schools, W M Donald is actively developing young professionals in Inverness through our structured training and apprenticeship programs. They are delighted to have two Graduate Quantity Surveyors, one Trainee Quantity Surveyor, one Graduate Site Engineer, one Trainee Engineer, and one Construction Apprentice currently progressing through our workforce. By fostering talent and providing structured career progression, we are not only strengthening our own workforce but also contributing to the economic development of the Inverness region.
