In keeping with the company’s vision of breaking down the barriers of learning for businesses throughout the Highlands, Virtual Learning Academy, which has been serving the community for over a decade, has made the exciting decision to rebrand itself as the Highland Learning Academy.
The need for a more Highland-centric persona is close to the heart to the company’s founder and CEO Cath Sutherland:
“I think sometimes the fact that we are a Scottish business based in the Highlands was being lost. It’s an important part of who we are, which is why we decided it was time to change.”
The VLA, or HLA as it will now be known, provides a wide range of qualifications for candidates in the workplace or at school, from their base of operations in Inverness. Modern Apprenticeships that allow candidates to earn while they learn in a large array of careers including Management, Digital Technologies and Logistics. Foundation Apprenticeships allow fifth- and sixth-year students to gain valuable career experience while gaining a higher-level qualification.
Another feather in HLA’s proverbial cap is that they are also the highlands only AAT test centre for accountancy exams, which are sat at their offices in the Green House in Inverness. Exam booking and more information about courses and the company will be available on their new web site ww.hla.scot which will be launched to coincide with the name change.
A rebrand to embrace their location, culture and identity while continuing to break down the barriers of learning and making accessible learning available to all couldn’t come at a better time. There are bright things ahead for this established Highland company particularly at a time of economic growth due to the Inverness and Cromarty Free Green Freeport activity.
