My name is Jay and I’m a Regional Hire Manager for Portakabin (Scotland). I support clients across a wide region, ranging from Stirling all the way up to Shetland. I joined Portakabin in 2013 as a Hire Coordinator and have spent almost nine great years working with clients in and around Scotland. Having previously studied Architectural Technology at Robert Gordon University, I now look after a team of Area Hire Managers in Scotland and work alongside my fantastic colleagues to network, help our clients find solutions to their problems as quickly as possible and ultimately be your local go-to modular hire experts. In my spare time, I love to get out and about on my mountain bike and spend time with my family and two Spaniels, Bosie and Caber.

Last year we proudly won the title of “Best Corporate Website” at the Strategic Comms Awards. The website was launched on time and on budget, just like our buildings, during the height of the first national lockdown in the UK.
Our Passivhaus Health Centre in Foleshill, Coventry (the greenest Health Centre in the country) recently won the Offsite Award, Sustainability Award, Value Award and the Winner of Winners Award at the Constructing Excellence West Midlands Awards.
We work collaboratively with colleagues all over Portakabin to overcome challenges, a perfect example of this happened during the pandemic. There was a requirement for Peterhead Power Station to have some additional facilities as a result of an outage and an increase in staff. Due to the nature of the situation, timescales were critical, and we only had two weeks to deliver 11 buildings. As you can imagine, this meant we had to work together with many different teams to complete this essential project, but as this is something we are used to doing, we were able to deliver it successfully.
Our focus for the next 12 months is to continue to build strong relationships with local businesses. The future is particularly exciting in the renewable energy sector, and we are keen to get involved and play our part in a greener future.
