Parklands Care Homes has celebrated Pride with events in Inverness and Aberlour, bringing residents, their families and care teams together through live music.
Pittyvaich Care Home in Milton of Leys, Inverness, hosted performances by local singer Anthony Collesso and Scottish trad band Tuath as part of a day of Parklands Pride celebrations.
A second event, organised by Speyside Care Home, took place at Aberlour’s Fleming Hall. Anthony Collesso returned to perform alongside local band Telegraph, which includes Glenisla Care Home carer Kenna Johnston, before a Pride-themed disco rounded off the evening. The event raised £500 for local mental health charity Feeling Blue.
Among those attending the Inverness event was Simon Allison, Chair of Highland Pride.
He said, “I think that it’s a lovely thing that Pittyvaich has hosted a Pride event this year. It’s a beautiful home, and I think bringing people together, friends and family of the residents, to celebrate in this wonderful environment through music is a really beautiful thing to do. For me, Pride is a movement to create a sense of welcome and belonging for everyone.”
Anthony Collesso, who performed at both events, said, “It feels incredible to be a part of something so special. The music, and getting everyone together, is what it’s all about: creating memories and seeing people having fun, singing and dancing along. I just love being part of something that can bring joy and happiness to people’s lives.”
Parklands Pride was launched in 2023 and has since been celebrated at Parklands care homes and community venues across the Highlands and Moray, bringing residents, families, staff and local communities together to celebrate inclusion and diversity.
Donald Morrison, Director of Communications at Parklands, said, “Pride is about making everyone feel welcome and valued. It was wonderful to see residents, families, colleagues and local communities come together to celebrate inclusion, and we’re delighted that the Aberlour event also raised vital funds for Feeling Blue.”
