Morrison Construction Highland Managing Director Retires After 22 Years of Service

Donald McLachlan retires after 22 Years of distinguished service at Morrison Construction.

Morrison Construction has celebrated the retirement of one of its most respected leaders, Donald McLachlan, Managing Director of Morrison Construction Highland, who stepped down at the end of October 2025. A special farewell event was held in November at the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness, where past and present colleagues gathered to recognise Donald’s remarkable contribution to the business.

Over more than two decades, Donald guided Morrison Construction through many defining moments. His leadership was instrumental during the transition following the Galliford Try acquisition, as well as throughout the delivery of major programmes including the Highland Schools and Orkney Schools projects. He also steered the business through the integration of Miller Construction, the unprecedented challenges posed by COVID-19, and the successful delivery of numerous high-quality projects across the region.

Respected widely for his steady leadership, integrity, and commitment, Donald has been a figure colleagues have consistently looked up to throughout his 22 years with the company. His impact on the Highland business and the wider Morrison Construction family leaves a legacy that will be felt for many years to come.

Everyone at Morrison Construction extends a heartfelt thank you to Donald for his dedication, professionalism, and unwavering support over the years. We wish him a long, happy, and fulfilling retirement.

The celebration concluded with a presentation to Donald and his wife, Elaine, of a personalised Dunfermline Athletic Football Club shirt, signed by Morrison Construction employees.

Gordon Williamson, former Construction Director for Highland, has been appointed as Donald’s successor. Gordon, who originally joined Morrison Construction in 2006 as a Site Manager, has assumed responsibility for the business unit from 1 September 2025.
