Mikeysline supporters and staff have successfully completed a gruelling challenge, raising more than £55,000 for the charity’s local mental health and suicide prevention services.
The Icelandic Lava & Light Trek saw 15 fundraisers walk 58km over three days through challenging volcanic terrain, taking in waterfalls, lava fields, fjords and geysers. Their achievement highlights remarkable determination, teamwork, and commitment to ensuring no one in the Highlands, Islands and Moray has to struggle alone.
Funds raised will help Mikeysline continue providing compassionate, confidential peer support through its text, online, face-to-face and callback services year-round.
Speaking at the finish line, Emily Stokes, CEO of Mikeysline, said, “This challenge pushed us physically and mentally, but every step was taken for the people who rely on Mikeysline. The money raised will make a real difference, helping us keep vital support available locally when people need it most. I’m incredibly proud of everyone who took part and gave so much to support our grassroots charity.
“The camaraderie and laughs along the way helped us overcome the challenges presented by the landscape and climate. It’s an experience none of us will forget, reminding us of our strength and resilience and reinforcing the importance of supporting one another as we face daily challenges.”
