MEMBER OF THE WEEK – MONEYCORP

Moneycorp have a presence in 11 countries employing over 800 people. Closer to home, moneycorp Scotland has four using based in city centre Edinburgh but as with most people, we are currently working from home.

moneycorp started life in 1962 as David Leslie Jewellers (Oxford Street) Limited, offering Foreign Exchange Services and changing our name to Town Ticket and Tours Limited in 1979 becoming TTT Moneycorp Ltd in 1993 and finally dropping the TTT to become simply “moneycorp” in 2008.

We are UK and International payments specialist helping firms managing costs, time and risk when it comes to their payment strategies. In April 2019 we opened our Scottish office in order to be closer to our clients.

I’m Niall Handy, I started my banking career in Corporate & Relationship Banking and then moved to different areas over the years to include Corporate & Leverage Finance, Risk Control, Credit and for the last 10 years, Investment Banking. When moneycorp asked me to join them with the opening on office in Scotland it was an easy decision for me. The chance to be involved in setting up an office from scratch and growing the business across Scotland was a challenge I was keen to take on.

We have a formal partnership with the British Chambers of Commerce and take pride that they trust us to deliver their “Chamber FX” benefit which is available to all chamber members across the UK. This Member of the Week campaign is a great way to highlight this benefit to those importing and exporting members.

Through “Chamber FX” Chamber members gain access to the below:

Dedicated account manager with free consultations on hedging strategies – we design bespoke solutions to fit the business.
Preferential rates on Foreign Exchange – beating bank pricing by up to 3%
Free currency wallet holding up to 34 different currencies with the need to open individual accounts
Access to over 100+ currencies for payments in/out
Fee free international payments, saving up to £40 per transfer

As Foreign Exchange specialists, we offer the full range of products to clients including spot and forward trades. We also offer derivatives to those who wish to take a more sophisticated and tailored route to managing their risk profile.

We have recently expanded our worldwide presence opening offices in Canada this year which followed the approval of our banking licence in Brazil – one of only five licensed banks to serve the world’s ninth largest economy.

Over the next 12 months our plan is to continue to help Chamber members navigate the current market turbulence: COVID has affected all of our clients and will continue to do so, and we have Brexit and US elections to get through too. The remainder of this year will likely see currency volatility spike to all-time highs – we’re ready to help.

In 2019, moneycorp was awarded ‘Money Transfer Provider of the Year’ in the MoneyAge Awards, and we have been shortlisted again in 2020. Recently, in the Payment Awards 2020, moneycorp was shortlisted in the ‘Best Cross-Border Payments Service’ category, and moneycorp Bank was shortlisted in the ‘Best Cross-Border Payments Infrastructure’ category.

Inverness Chamber asked us what we value most about membership: “What we value most in our Chamber membership is the support we receive and networking opportunities it presents us.

We’re passionate about what we do and committed to helping the Scottish economy grow. Working alongside the Chamber, we compliment the already sterling work that they do in helping their membership achieve their international goals by offering cost effective and seamless transfer of funds.”

Attend as many events as you have time for, such as the Maximise Your Membership Event. The collective bargaining power of the Chamber network results in some fantastic offers for its members (saving you much more than your membership fees)

Also take advantage of the networking opportunities. Don’t be afraid to ask the Chamber directly for help with connecting you with other businesses you would like to talk to! When people come together and talk it’s a great opportunity for new partnerships and business relationships to grow.
