High Life Highland is encouraging people across the region to put themselves first during Wellness Week, with a packed programme of activities designed to support physical, mental and social wellbeing.
Taking place from Monday 21 to Sunday 27 September, Wellness Week aims to showcase the opportunities available across High Life Highland’s services to help people live healthier, happier and more connected lives.
From special BookBug sessions – including an intergenerational special at Bettyhill Library on 21 September – to creative workshops and outdoor experiences there is something for all ages and interests throughout the week.
You can even learn about health and wellbeing though the archives at Nucleas: the Nuclear & Caithness Archives on 23 September.
So whether it’s picking up a new hobby, spending time in nature, getting active or simply taking a moment to unwind, Wellness Week aims to help people make time for themselves.
To encourage even more people to get involved, High Life Highland is also offering a free seven-day leisure pass, giving participants the chance to swim, use the gym or join an instructor-led fitness class at any of its 25 leisure facilities across the Highlands.
Emma Thomson, Head of Community Partnerships and Growth at High Life Highland, said, “Wellness is about much more than physical fitness. It’s about creating healthy habits that support every aspect of our lives, whether that’s looking after our mental health, staying active, learning something new, connecting with others or taking time to do something we enjoy.
“High Life Highland is uniquely placed to support wellbeing through the breadth of services we provide. From libraries and archives to leisure facilities, arts venues, outdoor activities and community programmes, we offer countless opportunities for people to improve their health, build confidence and strengthen social connections.
“Wellness Week will shine a spotlight on the many ways people can prioritise their wellbeing and we hope that we can inspire people to try something new, reconnect with activities they love and discover the fantastic services available in their local communities.
“Our aim is simple: to help make life better. By taking even a small amount of time for yourself during Wellness Week, you could make a positive difference to your health and wellbeing that lasts long beyond September!”
Residents are encouraged to follow local High Life Highland social media channels for the latest information on Wellness Week events and activities. A series of wellbeing blogs will also be published online offering practical advice, sharing inspiring stories and tips on supporting overall wellbeing.
