Local IT company, sfG Software, are thrilled to have recently employed their first ever trainee, IT Support Technician, Josh Black.
Noticing a gap in the IT support market, sfG Software was formed in 2009 by David Garvie and Robert Murray with the aim of providing high-quality, customer support to Highland businesses.
Now, with customers based throughout Highlands, Moray and beyond – and with a period of record growth for the company, due to many businesses heading back into the office or adjusting to hybrid working post-COVID, and with the need for team growth – it was the perfect time for the business to look to support keen, local talent.
David Garvie, Managing Director, enthused: “We are delighted to be in a position where we can expand our IT team, thanks to our growing supportive client base. The whole team look forward to supporting Josh – by assisting with his skills development and providing guidance to reach his full potential. It’s a real privilege to be able to support young, local talent.”
Josh, who is originally from Inverness, brings some level of experience to the table with thanks to previous work within the IT sector over a period of 2 years. Like many during COVID-19, Josh was unfortunately made redundant from his previous role.
Originally finding a love of IT while a student at Inverness High School, the opportunity to train under the leadership and guidance of a well established IT team is very much welcomed.
“The opportunity to join sfG is, I feel, a perfect one for me – they are a very highly rated company with years of experience in different fields between all the employees so there is always someone to help me learn and improve my skills so that I can become even more proficient in the IT sector.”
IT Support Manager, Andy Mackinnon, who has worked at sfG Software since it was founded – will be taking the lead role in providing learning opportunities for Josh. “We have identified areas for training for personal development, where professional accreditation can be achieved. Because sfG have such a varied number of clients and requirements, this is a great opportunity for Josh to see every single aspect of the wide spectrum of Information Technology. As his experience grows, we will channel his interests to develop much more in-depth knowledge. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a long career!”
The team at sfG Software look forward to continuing to provide learning and development opportunities for the current team, as well as addressing the local skill shortages by providing opportunities for young, local talent to be part of a growing business.
