Emma Bone, 21, from Inverness, has secured a place in the 2026 London Marathon on April 26th, and is running in support of Highland Action For Little Ones (Halo), a charity many Chamber members already know and support.
Emma’s story is one many will relate to. Just a couple of years ago, running a marathon wasn’t even on her radar. What began as a light-hearted joke with a friend quickly turned into something much more serious after she completed the Inverness Half Marathon in 2023 and caught the running bug.
Now, alongside university studies and part-time work, Emma is training for 26.2 miles with determination and purpose.
Her decision to support Halo came after hearing about the charity through a family member. The stories she heard stayed with her, and when she secured her marathon place, she knew she wanted to use the opportunity to give back locally.
“I was really lucky growing up. I had an amazing childhood with no real worries,” Emma shared. “I believe no child should ever go without or be worrying about things only adults should have to worry about.”
Halo supports children and families across the Highlands by providing essential items such as clothing, nappies, baby equipment and school essentials, ensuring that no child goes without the basics they need to thrive. With demand for support continuing to grow, fundraising efforts like Emma’s play a vital role in helping the charity reach more families.
This is where the local business community can make a real difference.
Halo already works alongside many Inverness Chamber members, and the support from local businesses has been instrumental in helping the charity grow and respond to needs across the region. Emma’s marathon presents another opportunity to come together and support both a determined young local and the families Halo serves.
Whether through a donation, sponsorship, or simply sharing Emma’s story, every contribution will help her reach the finish line and help Halo continue its work across the Highlands.
