To celebrate their 25th birthday this April, Inverness based garden centre Simpsons is donating £25,000 of vouchers to garden projects across Inverness, the Highlands and Aberdeenshire.
It’s hoped the £25,000 fund will support school, community and charity garden projects across the region to help set up new projects or support gardens already being used but need an extra boost.
The importance of being outdoors and the benefits of gardening for our physical and mental health are well documented and the multiple award-winning garden centre, which opened it’s doors in April 2000, wants to support local garden groups to help with the amazing work being done.
The grant fund will also support applications from garden projects near the Simpsons store in Aberdeenshire, Mintlaw, which joined the Simpsons family in November 2000.
Marketing Manager Siobhan MacBean said “As we celebrate our 25th birthday, it’s great to give back to the community which has supported Simpsons from the beginning. Gardening and being outdoors is so good for physical and mental health and there are so many great projects out there, getting people involved.
“Every garden project is a great learning opportunity whether it’s young people at nursery or school to the older generation who now have more time to spend in the garden or learn more about growing.
“Through our ‘Garden Project 25’ fund, we want to be able to support gardens and outdoors spaces that have multiple uses and users, so really hope as many projects as possible get involved.
“This is such an exciting opportunity, and we look forward to reading about all the different gardens and spaces on our doorstep and being able to support their gardening goals and aspirations.”
