Stephen Leckie is the fifth generation of his family to run the Crieff Hydro hotel and estate since the doors opened on Scotland’s maiden hydropathic establishment in 1868. The company is now the oldest trading registered company in Scotland.

Stephen was born and brought up in Perthshire and educated at Morrisons Academy and Strathallan School. In addition, Taypark House in Dundee is an Associated Hotel.

In October 2019, he opened the company’s own 1881 – Gin Distillery and School in Peebles within the hotel, with its own water and botanicals. There are four types of Gins and the matching set of four Tonic 81’s. It’s the biggest residential Gin school in Britain.

Stephen has received a number of awards including the VisitScotland Scottish Thistle Award for his outstanding contribution to industry, the Scottish Chambers of Commerce / Scottish Business Honours – Entrepreneur of the Year Award and in 2019 he was presented with the Scottish Licensed Trade News Award for Industry Achievement.

This will be a unique opportunity to hear from Stephen about the strength of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce network and the challenges and opportunities facing businesses in Scotland.
