Fabric designer, Lucy Wagtail Interiors and Highland BlindCraft Beds have officially launched their exciting, new design collaboration which aims to offer an alternative to traditional foam-based sleep products by using all natural materials in mattresses and headboards. This move advances both Lucy Wagtail Interiors’ and Highland BlindCraft Beds’ commitment to increasing their range of eco-friendly homeware products thereby meeting an increasing demand for more sustainable options in interiors and furniture.
Inverness based business Lucy Wagtail Interiors, officially launched its collaboration with Inverness Chamber members and local charity, Highland BlindCraft Beds on Friday 30 August 2024. The collaboration has developed a range of eco-friendly homeware products to consumers throughout the UK. This is a step forward in taking Lucy Wagtail Interiors’ new fabric ranges to market while staying true to their commitment to eco-friendly practices.
The collaboration has seen the development of a range of wool padded headboards and bed bases made using natural products and both covered in a choice of Lucy Wagtail Interiors uniquely designed fabrics. To complete the perfect, eco-friendly bed, Highland BlindCraft offer their brand new “Eco-Mattress” made from bamboo as a sustainable alternative to foam. All Lucy Wagtail fabrics are printed to order to avoid textile waste and use eco-friendly inks on base fabrics of natural fibres. A wide range of Lucy Wagtail Interiors fabric prints are available for consumers to choose from to cover the headboards and beds.

About Highland BlindCraft Beds
Highland Blindcraft was established over 150 years ago as a school for the Blind, it then progressed to providing employment for blind people in Highland. The factory is still in the original premises at 39 Ardconnel Street, Inverness. Today Highland Blindcraft is a registered charity provided supported employment to people with not only sight loss but other disabilities. In full production Highland Blindcraft have 20 highly skilled visually impaired and disabled people in supported employment with an additional 4 unsupported employees. Designing, manufacturing and selling mattresses, divans, headboards and other products including occasional furniture, chairs, pillows and mattress protectors are also available.
