The Kingsmills Hotel are delighted to partner with two ‘Scottish legends’ to host a brand new whisky-focused event in aid of the Highland Hospice on Thursday 2nd October 2025.
In partnership with renowned whisky guide Hamish Malcolm, ‘The Dram Caddy’, and legendary Scottish golfer Sandy Lyle OBE, the event is being held in support of the Highland Hospice; one of the hotels longest standing charity partners
This intimate evening brings together two of Scotland’s great passions – whisky and golf – for a relaxed, story-rich experience that blends flavour, heritage, and charitable giving. The evening format will be informal and focused around great chat, exceptional drams and personal anecdotes from our esteemed golfing guest. The chosen whiskies won’t disappoint!
“Whisky and golf are both deeply rooted in Highland tradition,” said Craig Ewan, Operations Director at the Kingsmills Hotel. “We’re tremendously grateful to Hamish and Sandy for their support and thrilled to host such a unique evening in support of a cause very close to our hearts”
Guests will be welcomed with canapés and a local beer and will enjoy cheese and charcuterie to accompany this engaging, lively tasting session which links ( no pun intended) the worlds of whisky and golf.
“We will start with a couple of lighter, approachable whiskies” says Hamish Malcolm, “one from one of the distilleries who have been at the fore front of golf in the Highlands for a number of years; and the other which has a very unique connection & provenance to the course and distillery.”
“We will then move on to two cask strength drams from independent bottlers – one which pays homage to an older style of golfing, while the other is from a nearby distillery which tends to still fly under the radar for many whisky lovers.”
The main tasting will culminate with a bottling comes from an ‘outlier’ whisky distillery and region – far from the Highlands, but which DOES have some local connections! To toast the end of the evening one additional malt will be poured… a rare, ‘wild card’ bottle from the 1980s which marks a very special year in Sandy’s career.
Tickets for the whisky tasting are priced at £60 per person, with all proceeds going to the Highland Hospice; a long-standing charity partner of the Kingsmills. Since 2014, the hotel has raised an impressive £520,000 in support of the charity.
With limited availability due to the rare nature of the whiskies, early booking is strongly recommended. Tickets can be bought online at https://www.kingsmillshotel.com/special-offers/charity-whisky-tasting-inverness/
The event coincides with the Kingsmills’ annual Charity Golf Day being held on Friday 3rd October, kindly hosted by Moray Golf Club. There is still time to enter a team and be part of this fantastic day! The competition is open to teams of four (Gents, Ladies, or Mixed). The entry fee is £1250 per team and includes tea, coffee and bacon rolls for four, 18 holes of golf on the Championship Course, a three-course dinner for eight, a grand auction, prize-giving, and excellent entertainment from the Anne Dickson Band.
