Eden Court Marks 50th With A Year of Special Events

Eden Court, the Highlands’ leading arts centre and a vital cultural institution for five decades, has announced details of a 50th anniversary year of celebration.

Eden Court will celebrate with a bold year-long programme of standout events that reflect its past, present and future at the heart of Highland culture. From landmark performances to immersive experiences and shared stories, the programme invites audiences across the region to be part of this milestone celebration.

The year will open in April with Eden Court at 50 – An Evening with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra featuring Scottish Opera that mirrors the opening performance that christened the stage almost fifty years ago to the day. The celebrations will culminate at the end of the year in Eden Court Stories, a major exhibition led by Inverness-based artist Jacqueline Briggs, celebrating the people and moments that have shaped Eden Court across its first fifty years.

Across 2026, audiences will be welcomed into everything from immersive performance and cinema to musical theatre, a touring production for schools, community celebrations and a special Under Canvas music festival. With a vibrant programme, strong community partnerships and a continued commitment to accessibility and inclusion, the anniversary year highlights not only what Eden Court has achieved across half a century, but how strongly it remains part of the region’s creative future.

Rebecca Holt, Eden Court’s Chief Executive, said, “Eden Court belongs to the people of the Highlands. As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we’re taking the time to reflect on our vibrant history – on the stories, relationships and moments that built this organisation – whilst also looking ahead with great excitement for the future.

Across this anniversary year, a whole variety of special events will show why Eden Court’s role in the cultural life of Scotland, and the Highlands in particular, is as important as ever through exceptional arts experiences, creative opportunities and a welcoming space for everyone. Most of all, we want people to feel part of this milestone. Whether you have treasured memories to share, have performed on our stages, grew up coming to shows, or are thinking of visiting for the very first time this year, you are part of our story. This anniversary is a celebration of the past fifty years, but it’s also an open invitation to join us in imagining the next fifty.”
