Eden Court is announcing an April to September programme of live performance in a new brochure that offers Highland audiences a thrilling range of cultural highlights in 2024. Major productions taking to the stage include Madagascar the Musical, Sunset Song, Scottish Opera’s La traviata, Scottish Ballet’s Swan Lake, National Theatre of Scotland’s Dear Billy and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Throughout spring and summer, a varied programme of drama, dance, music, opera and comedy will be coming to Scotland’s largest multi-arts venue. Two spectacular family musicals promise a dazzling live experience (Madagascar the Musical and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), a contemporary adaptation of Sunset Song reimagines Scotland’s literary heroine Chris Guthrie, and an electrifying line-up of live music from around the globe includes Hollywood legend Russell Crowe.
Major productions from Scotland’s national companies include Scottish Opera’s lavish La traviata and Scottish Ballet’s Swan Lake. National Theatre of Scotland present a love letter to the Big Yin with Dear Billy, and an adaption of Damian Barr’s award-winning memoir Maggie & Me.
The UK’s greatest comedy talent visiting the Highlands this summer will include Shappi Khorsandi, Tom Allen, Janey Godley and John Bishop. Eden Court will also welcome brilliant speakers including lexicographer (and Queen of Dictionary Corner) Susie Dent and special events Ocean Film Festival World Tour and Banff Mountain Film Festival World.
Live music fans in Inverness are well-served with Under Canvas, Eden Court’s multi-award nominated summer music festival, returning for July and August, and local emerging talent Cala take to the OneTouch Theatre following a sell-out gig at last year’s event. Meanwhile, major acts taking to the venue’s main Empire stage includes a night with Rufus Wainwright and special guests, Scotland’s finest Eddi Reader, and, on the only Scottish date of his European tour, Hollywood legend Russell Crowe with his band The Gentlemen Barbers.
Print copies of the new brochure will be available at Eden Court from Thursday 21 March, or a digital copy can be downloaded from eden-court.co.uk from the same date.
Rebecca Holt, Chief Executive, Eden Court, said: “We’re really pleased to share Eden Court’s new brochure, which includes an incredible six months of activity. As always, there is something for every taste, including big-name musicals like Madagascar and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, big-name ballet and opera with La traviata and Swan Lake, and big-name musicians such as Rufus Wainwright and Russell Crowe. We’re looking forward to bringing the world to the Highlands again this spring and summer with this world-class programme of live performance.”
