Driving UK Prosperity Through Global Connections: International Trade Week Returns

Looking to take your business global? Next week’s International Trade Week is packed with insights, expert advice and events to help you make it happen.

As we look ahead to International Trade Week next week (3 – 7 November), it is important to acknowledge the crucial role that international trade plays in supporting the UK’s prosperity and global influence.

New trade deals and changing geopolitical relationships are all influential in terms of fuelling economic growth, creating jobs, encouraging innovation and strengthening international partnerships for UK companies.

Led by the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), International Trade Week brings together industry experts, practical insights and real opportunities for businesses of all sizes and sectors to explore taking their products and services to new markets. This is the fifth edition of International Trade Week and involves five days of free online events designed to help UK businesses expand globally.

British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) are running a series of webinars throughout the week to help businesses understand key topics such as customs compliance and navigating US Tariffs. Full list of event details and registration information can be found here. Free trade agreements are at the heart of global growth, helping UK businesses build stronger international partnerships and tap into new customer bases with confidence. Navigating these deals doesn’t have to be daunting – with the right support, UK businesses can turn trade agreements into powerful tools for expansion.

The BCC recently published a Trade Deal Explainer, following the new UK-India Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). British Chambers of Commerce Director General, Shevaun Haviland CBE, recently joined Prime Minister Keir Starmer and over 100 business leaders on the UK Government’s trade mission to Mumbai, India earlier this month. This visit aimed to open doors to significant new business opportunities between our two nations, while showcasing UK expertise and innovation.

The Chamber network play a crucial role in supporting companies expand their global reach, by making connections and introductions both in the UK and overseas. Keep up to date on upcoming trade missions by looking at the Export Hub Scotland portal.
