Proceeds from fundraising ball will support local children and their families.
A Step Back in Time to a Boogie Wonderland has raised £36,610 for The Archie Foundation.
Dancing Queens and wannabe John Travoltas hit the dancefloor in sequins and flares for the charity’s 2025 Disco Ball on Saturday night, held at Aberdeen’s Chester Hotel.
Partygoers were transported through the decades with an array of disco hits from the 70s onwards.
The ball was part of a series of celebrations of The Archie Foundation’s 25th birthday year, with all proceeds from the event going directly to help support babies, children and families across the North of Scotland.
Industrial services provider and long-time Archie supporter TEXO once again signed up as headline sponsor of the event, which was attended by around 250 guests.
The event was organised by Archie’s Project Co-ordinator, Sarah Pirie who said, “We are thrilled to have raised so much money at the Disco Ball, which is one of our most important fundraising events. We’d like to thank everyone who attended and gave so generously at the auction and raffle, as well as throwing some amazing shapes on the dancefloor all night!
“The Archie Foundation provides help for so many children and families each year – from our Family Centre, which allows parents to stay overnight with their children in hospital, to helping with vital financial support and equipment.
“We also offer bereavement services for children who have lost a loved one, giving them support and counselling at a time when they need it the most. We are so proud of our ability to react quickly to emergency needs, and we couldn’t do this without the incredible donations we receive from our supporters such as our headline sponsor TEXO. We hope everyone had as much fun on Saturday night as we did!”
This year’s ball organising committee included Archie patron and illustrator Johanna Basford, trustees Holly Milne and Irene Anderson, and mum Angela Hill, whose daughter Georgia (6) has been supported by Archie.
This event was the third consecutive Disco Ball and firmly cements the event in The Archie Foundation’s annual fundraising calendar, helping the charity to provide activities and support for more than 3,000 children and their families across Aberdeen and the North of Scotland.
Just £30 funds a one-to-one session with the Archie play leader for inpatients; £1,825 will pay for a room in the Family Centre at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital for three months, allowing parents to stay free of charge; £5,000 will fund Archie’s Child Bereavement Service book gifting to families; and funding of £10,000 pays for Archie’s Neonatal Counselling Service for a year.
The Archie Foundation exists to transform experiences and outcomes in healthcare and bereavement for babies, children and families across North Scotland, including Aberdeen, Elgin, Inverness and Dundee.
The charity’s vision is that all children in the region will have equal access to world-class healthcare and bereavement support, delivered in a child-appropriate environment and manner.
