Braedown Launches in the Highlands to Serve the Green Economy

A new strategic communications business has launched in the Highlands to support companies driving Scotland’s energy transition and capitalising on the £6.5 billion Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport investment

Braedown, founded by Lindsay McCallum and Kim Visser, brings over 30 years’ combined experience from senior leadership roles including Heads of Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs across energy, infrastructure and finance.

The business offers strategic communications, public affairs and marketing services tailored to companies driving the clean energy transition here in the Highlands. With careers built across London and Scotland, the founders bring UK-wide networks and deep sector expertise to support client growth.

McCallum said, “We see ourselves as a business partner to those seeking growth opportunities in the region. In a regulated sector like energy, the stakeholder and policy environments are complex. Success requires a clear strategy and the ability to communicate it with purpose. We help clients set that strategy and deliver it.”

Visser added, “It’s an exciting time for the region, full of opportunity for ambitious businesses. From my experience as Head of Marketing for an investment fund, I know that operational excellence alone isn’t enough. True competitive edge is built through trusted reputation and strong brand. How a business communicates its value directly impacts its ability to grow, whilst managing long-term risk.”

Both founders have built their careers across clean technology, infrastructure and finance, with expertise spanning wind power, green hydrogen, natural gas, energy storage, solar and home energy systems. Their knowledge covers both national policy environments and the local stakeholder landscapes that companies and projects navigate.

McCallum said, “The Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport and the associated investment present a significant opportunity for sustainable employment, improved infrastructure and regional prosperity. We’re passionate about the energy transition creating lasting opportunity in the places that power it – to create a legacy for future generations – and we’re excited to be part of it.”
