Whether working with private individuals or businesses, our expert team ensures everyone involved, from partner to support staff, follows the same goal of achieving the best outcome for their clients.
Angus grew up in Inverness and considers himself fortunate to live in the best place in the world to live, and in which to do business. When asked about the firm he told us:
“Over the past 2 years we’ve invested in technology and training to allow us to move to a flexible hybrid working model.
“Looking forward, the firm’s aim is to continue to help our clients through whatever tough times might be ahead, as we have for almost 170 years. We’re here to give legal support and advice, both personal and business, to help navigate through choppy waters, and also to help our clients to make the most of the continued positive opportunities in the Highlands, Islands and Moray.
“Last year we couldn’t celebrate the 10th anniversary of our Inverness office properly because of lockdowns, so instead we’re marking the 11th anniversary in 2022 and being Member of the Week seemed like an appropriate way to spread the news!
“We opened a base in the city in 2011 with just one solicitor, myself, and it’s hard to believe that 11 years have passed since we first launched WJM’s Inverness office. I grew up in the city and know it can be tricky to find legal experts who really understand the local area and economy in the Highlands, so it’s always been important to us to provide a high-quality service to people in the area.
“As part of our commitment to the local area we have renewed our sponsorship of Ross County U16s football team for the fourth year, and are also sponsoring Betty Ross, the exciting young talent from Clachnacuddin Women FC.”
We asked Angus what WJM most valued about their Chamber membership and what top tips they would give others to ensure they are getting the most out of theirs, this is what he said:
“We most value the network of like-minded businesses and business leaders, and the opportunity through the Chamber to influence how Government and other decision-makers interact with the business community in the North.
“Get along to events – and also follow up one-to-one with those you meet. The Highland business community isn’t huge, and it’s well worth spending a bit of time getting to know people and building connections. They say in Hollywood there’s a Kevin Bacon rule – there’s never more than 5 steps in the network back to Kevin. Well, in this part of the world it’s rare to be more than 2 steps!
“We’ve made lots of helpful connections both for our own business and for our clients, and we have numerous WJM clients whom we originally met at Chamber events.”
