One new business. One ancient building. One city.
An Inverness independent retailer is marking its first birthday by launching a charity raffle to support one of the city’s most historic landmarks.
Oil & Vinegar Inverness, based at 9 Union Street, celebrated its first anniversary under new ownership on 2 November. Rather than simply marking the occasion with a birthday promotion, the shop is inviting customers and the wider community to help support the Old High Church.
The We Are One charity raffle brings together a relatively new chapter in Inverness’s retail life with a building that has been part of the city’s story for centuries.
Tickets cost just £2 each, with the draw taking place on 30 November 2026.
Among the prizes is a remarkable Giusti balsamic vinegar presentation collection of ten bottles, originally created for a charity event involving Luciano Pavarotti in 2006.
Another prize is a heart-shaped pendant by local artist Anke Rainbow, made from recycled pewter and bearing an imprint taken from the Old High’s historic execution stone.
Oil & Vinegar Inverness owner, Paul Haigh said, “When we took over Oil & Vinegar a year ago, we became part of Inverness’s business community. The Old High has been part of this city for centuries. We wanted to do something to celebrate our first birthday that was about more than the shop itself. The raffle is a way for our customers, friends and neighbours to join us in supporting a building that means a great deal to Inverness. And at £2 a ticket, we’re hoping lots of people will join in.”
The raffle is promoted by The Old High Inverness SCIO, Scottish charity SC054234, and registered with Highland Council under reference GA/393/26/1.
Tickets are available online through Oil & Vinegar Inverness, with options to purchase one, five or ten tickets.
Sales close at 12 noon on 30 November, ahead of the draw later that day. Entrants must be aged 16 or over.
