Record attendance as fundraising event continues to grow in size
Hundreds of guests stepped back in time to the roaring 1920s at this year’s Great Gatsby-inspired Prosecco Picnic, raising more than £26,000 for The Archie Foundation.
The sold-out event, held at The Drumossie Hotel in Inverness on Saturday (August 22) saw a record number of guests don their finest feathers and flapper dresses for an afternoon of music, food, fizz and fundraising.
Prosecco Picnics held over the last five years have now raised more than £246,000 for The Archie Foundation, helping to provide vital support and services to babies, children and families across the Highlands and Islands.
The annual event is organised by Archie patron Mary Nimmo and her colleague Jacqueline Brown of Munro and Noble Solicitors and Estate Agents.
Demand for this year’s event was so high that the marquee had to be extended to accommodate additional guests, with Highland Stretch Tents and Highland Copiers generously sponsoring the increased tent space.
“Events like this simply wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of everyone involved – from our guests and wonderful table hosts to our generous table sponsors and all those who kindly donated auction and raffle prizes,” said Mary.
“We are so grateful to each and every person who helped make the day such a success and, most importantly, helped us raise vital funds for The Archie Foundation. Thank you for being part of such a fantastic day – roll on next year!”
Guests fully embraced the art deco glamour, with everyone dressing up for the occasion. Two guests were crowned winners of the fancy dress competition, sponsored by Barclay and Daughters.
Partygoers enjoyed music from Willie Campbell and the Tumbling Souls, while The Drumossie Hotel provided the food and Archie patron Kenny Smith kept the celebrations on track as MC.

“We are so grateful to Mary, Jackie and the team at Munro and Noble for their continued support of the annual Prosecco Picnic, which they organise so brilliantly in aid of The Archie Foundation.
“This year’s record attendance and fantastic fundraising total are testament to the hard work that goes into the event and the incredible generosity of everyone who attends, with many people showing up year after year to support Archie.”
Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the work at the Highland Children’s Unit and across the whole of the Highlands and Islands, supporting babies, children and families during a hospital visit or stay, or following a bereavement.
The money raised will also contribute to the refurbishment of the Birnie Centre, a child development clinic on the grounds of Raigmore Hospital.
