Advocating for Highland Business

Your Voice at the Heart of Decision-Making

Inverness Chamber of Commerce is the leading voice for businesses across the Highlands. We represent our members’ interests with insight, credibility and influence – ensuring the priorities of the regional business community are heard by decision-makers locally, nationally and across the UK.

As an independent, evidence-led organisation, we respond quickly to emerging issues and engage directly with policymakers, elected representatives and the media to champion Highland business.

Working closely with the Scottish Chambers of Commerce and British Chambers of Commerce, we strengthen our impact – bringing regional insight to national conversations and influencing policy at every level.

Our Key Campaigns

We are actively advocating on the issues that matter most to businesses across the Highlands:

  • Transport and infrastructure – supporting progress on the A9 and A96 to improve connectivity, safety and economic growth
  • Visitor Levy – ensuring business voices shape a fair, balanced and sustainable approach
  • Non-domestic rates – highlighting the impact of revaluations on costs, investment and competitiveness

These priorities are central to building a stronger, more connected and resilient Highland economy.

A Clear Plan for the Highland Economy

Our Manifesto for the Scottish Parliament Election May 2026 for Inverness and the Central Highlands sets out a practical and ambitious roadmap for economic growth across the region.

Developed in partnership with our members, it focuses on the key areas that will drive long-term success – including infrastructure, people and skills, and creating the right conditions for businesses to thrive.

The Manifesto provides a strong platform for engagement with government and stakeholders, ensuring Highland business priorities remain front and centre in policy discussions.

Real-Time Data Influencing Policy

The Quarterly Economic Indicator (QEI) is Scotland’s longest-running business survey, delivered by the Scottish Chambers of Commerce in partnership with the Fraser of Allander Institute.

It provides a reliable, up-to-date picture of economic conditions – capturing trends in sales, recruitment, investment and business confidence.

This insight directly informs government decision-making at the highest levels, from the Scottish Government to Westminster.
