All Aboard for Spirit of Speyside as Stagecoach Boosts Whisky Trail Services

  • Service 36 offers direct links to key distilleries during Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival
  • Additional journeys introduced to support festival travel from 29 April to 3 May 2026
  • £2 fare cap pilot makes exploring Speyside more accessible and affordable than ever

Stagecoach North Scotland is encouraging festivalgoers to leave the car behind and make the most of this year’s Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival by travelling on its enhanced Service 36 “Whisky Trail”.

Running from 29 April to 3 May 2026, the internationally renowned festival will see thousands of visitors descend on Speyside to celebrate Scotland’s world-famous whisky heritage. Service 36 provides a convenient and scenic link between Elgin and Dufftown, serving several of the region’s best-known distilleries along the route.

To support increased demand during the festival, additional journeys will operate on Service 36, making it even easier for visitors and locals to plan their day and travel between events.

The service also forms part of the Scottish Government-backed £2 fare cap pilot across the Highlands, Moray and Orkney, meaning many single journeys are capped at just £2. This offers a cost-effective and stress-free way to enjoy the festival; allowing customers to sample Speyside’s finest drams without the worry of driving.

David Beaton, Managing Director for Stagecoach North Scotland, said, “Spirit of Speyside is a highlight in the calendar and attracts visitors from across the world. Our Whisky Trail service is the perfect way to experience it; connecting key distilleries and events while taking the hassle out of travel.

With the £2 fare cap in place and additional journeys running during the festival, there’s never been a better time to leave the car at home, enjoy a dram and let us do the driving.”

Service 36 operates between Elgin and Dufftown, stopping at a number of well-known distilleries including Glenfiddich, Glenrothes, Craigellachie, Aberlour and Glen Grant.

Customers can plan their journey and purchase tickets via the Stagecoach Bus App, where they can also access live tracking and timetable information.
