Harper Macleod Scores Family Triple Double

Two family lawyers at Harper Macleod have achieved a Law Society accreditation in Child Law, completing a hat trick of specialisms covering family law, child law and family mediation.

Karen Gibbons and Jane Blackwood, partners in the family teams in Edinburgh and Glasgow respectively, have reached the major milestone and become the second and third members of the family law team at Harper Macleod to secure the triple accreditation. They join Elgin-based partner Laura McLean who applies her existing triple accreditation to support clients across the north of Scotland.

This achievement highlights the growing strength of Harper Macleod’s family law team, which now includes triple-accredited family specialists in the east, west and north of Scotland and reinforces the firm’s position as a leading provider of family law services.

The team brings together nine dedicated lawyers, including six partners, and holds a combined total of 15 Law Society of Scotland accreditations across family law, child law and family mediation.

Speaking on her triple accreditation, Karen said, “Achieving a triple accreditation is a real milestone, not just for me but for the clients and colleagues I work with every day. It reflects the commitment we have across the firm to offer informed, compassionate and specialist support to families at every stage of their journey.”

Jane added, “These triple accreditations recognise the breadth of expertise we bring to families across Scotland. It reflects our ability to guide clients through sensitive child law matters, while using mediation to help people reach lasting outcomes. Most of all, it shows the strength of our team and our shared commitment to giving clients clear and confident guidance when they need it most.”

Achievements like this highlight the strength of expertise at Harper Macleod across many different practice areas, with a total of 32 lawyers holding 41 accreditations.
