Lynemore Care Home Expands to Meet Rising Demand

New 12-bed extension part of multi-million pound investment in region.

Care services in Strathspey are set for a major boost as plans for a new extension to Grantown’s Lynemore Care Home have been approved.

The extension will include 12 en-suite bedrooms, a new dining area with a covered outdoor terrace, a quiet space for residents, accessible bathrooms and shower facilities, a staff room, and additional parking spaces.

Work on the £1.8 million project is expected to start in September, with residents moving into the home in the summer of 2027.

Ron Taylor, Managing Director of Parklands Care Homes, which operates the home, said, “We’re delighted to receive planning approval for the extension at Lynemore Care Home. Lynemore is a beautiful home in a stunning setting, and the demand for places there is incredibly strong. This extension will allow us to provide more residents with the high-quality care they need. We look forward to starting work this autumn and welcoming our first residents early next summer.”

The extension is part of a wider £18 million investment plan by Parklands, which will add 94 beds across the north and northeast by next year. This includes a new 60-bed care home in Turriff, alongside extensions to several existing care homes, including Lynemore.

Mr Taylor added, “We’re proud to invest in the future of care across the region. These new developments address the increasing demand for high-quality care from a growing older population and will ensure that more people can access the care they need within their own community.”

Lynemore, which opened in 2018, currently accommodates up to 40 residents.
