We recently hosted a free online information session in advance of Scotland-Canada Business Week, which takes place w/c 27 April 2026 in partnership with Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce and West Highland Chamber of Commerce.
Supported by the Scottish Government and Scottish Chambers of Commerce, this event welcomed Scottish and Canadian businesses from a wide range of sectors including AI, Hospitality, Food and Drink, Life Sciences, Technology, Energy and Legal Services. The event offered an early opportunity for businesses to learn more about what Scotland-Canada Business Week can mean for their organisation and how to get involved. This cross-sector representation encouraged meaningful discussion, knowledge sharing and the potential for collaboration across industries.
We were joined by speakers from Highlands & Islands Enterprise (HIE) and the British Canadian Chamber of Trade and Commerce in Ontario (BCCTC), covering key sector opportunities and current business landscapes. We were also pleased to welcome representatives from the Canadian High Commissioner office in London, who shared valuable insights into the trading relations between Scotland and Canada, while expanding on the support available to companies exploring transatlantic opportunities.
Following the presentations, a short facilitated networking session was held, allowing participants to connect in a more interactive setting. This provided businesses with the opportunity to introduce themselves, exchange ideas, and begin conversations that may lead to future collaboration. These initial conversations laid the groundwork for potential partnerships and opened channels for follow-up discussions around market opportunities and insights into regional demand for products, particularly within the Food & Drink sector.
Commenting on the session, Sarah Findlay, International Trade Manager at Inverness Chamber of Commerce, said “It was great to see such a diverse mix of Scottish and Canadian companies connect with one another to begin exchanging initial contacts and ideas. These early conversations are an important first step, and we are very much looking forward to building on this engagement at the physical Scotland-Canada Business Week event in April.”
Inverness Chamber of Commerce, alongside its partner Chambers, looks forward to building on the momentum from this session as preparations continue for Scotland-Canada Business Week in April, as we continue to support businesses keen to strengthen links between Scotland and Canada.
