- Increased frequency and new direct links to Raigmore Hospital, National Treatment Centre and Inverness Retail Park
- Improved connections across the wider Highland network, including Dingwall, Nairn and Inverness Airport
- Some lower-used services to be withdrawn to focus resources on busiest routes
Stagecoach has confirmed a package of service changes across the Inverness area, which will come into effect from Monday 16 February 2026.
The changes are designed to improve punctuality, reliability and connections across the network by focusing resources on routes with the highest customer demand, while recognising that this will involve the withdrawal of some lower-used services.
As part of the revised network, services to Dalneigh, Drakies, Milton Crescent, Milton of Leys and Culduthel will be withdrawn due to low customer usage. This will allow Stagecoach to strengthen reliability and frequency on its busiest corridors, including services 1, 2 and 3.
There will also be a number of improvements for customers, including increased frequencies and new direct links serving Raigmore Hospital, the National Treatment Centre and Inverness Retail Park, reflecting strong and growing demand for travel to healthcare, employment and retail destinations. A new dedicated school service linking Old and New Hilton with Inverness Royal Academy will also be introduced.
Further enhancements include extended routes to Fort George and Culloden Battlefield, improved frequencies in the Dingwall area, and easier travel between Nairn, Inverness Airport and Raigmore Hospital through new and enhanced connections.
David Beaton, Managing Director for Stagecoach North Scotland, said, “We recognise any change to local bus services can be challenging for customers and communities, particularly where services are withdrawn. These decisions are never taken lightly and reflect the need to focus our resources where demand is highest, while improving reliability and punctuality across the wider network.
At the same time, we are pleased to strengthen services to key destinations such as Raigmore Hospital, the National Treatment Centre and Inverness Retail Park, ensuring better access to healthcare, jobs and essential services. We have worked closely with Highland Council throughout this process and will continue to do so as the changes are implemented.”
Full details of the service changes, including updated timetables, will be published in advance of the February 2026 start date.
