SSEN Transmission has welcomed the decision by Scottish Ministers to approve its Section 37 consent application for the Aberarder Wind Farm Connection project – located in Inverness-shire between Aberarder Estate and Dunmaglass Estate.
The project will see a new overhead line (OHL) extend for approximately 5km from the proposed Aberarder Wind Farm Substation into the existing Dunmaglass 132kV OHL.
With consent now granted, construction of the project is expected to begin in spring 2026.
Project Director, Laura McWilliams, said, “Investing in the transmission system is vital in delivering energy security and clean power goals in the Highlands and for the whole country, and this is another welcome step forward. We thank all those who contributed to our consultation events, and we will continue to engage constructively with the local community throughout the lifetime of this project.”
