A team of more than 40 insurance professionals and support staff have been welcomed into the TL Dallas family, as Nord Dallas and Caledonia Dallas officially launch. Nord Dallas is based in Kirkwall, and Caledonia Dallas has offices in Inverness and Elgin. All three teams were acquired by TL Dallas from Marsh Commercial recently.
Paul Chiffers, who heads Caledonia Dallas, said: “TL Dallas is one of the largest, and last remaining truly independent, insurance broking and risk management firms in the UK. A fourth-generation family firm, owned by its management and staff, the fact it has been in business for more than 100 years and has such a strong heritage and impressive reputation makes this a very exciting move for our teams.
“We will have the independence to act in the best interest of our clients and manage claims in-house and we look forward to our future with TL Dallas.”
Kevin Hancock, who heads up Nord Dallas, said: “This is a huge milestone for me personally as we are re-introducing the name of my father’s business, Nord Insurance Brokers, which was established in Orkney in 1979 and operated in Orkney until Robin Hancock’s untimely death in 1996. TL Dallas already has a long-established team in Shetland and having known them and others from the TL Dallas Group for many years, I feel it’s a great fit for us, as we have such a similar ethos around how we look after our staff, support our clients and contribute to the wider community.”
Polly Staveley, Group Managing Director at TL Dallas, said: “We are thrilled to welcome so many dedicated and professional people into our group, as we continue our mission to serve local businesses with local teams, whatever their size. With offices already in Shetland, Falkirk, Edinburgh and Glasgow this move will see us expand our offering in the Highlands and Islands and give us an even stronger presence in Scotland.”
TL Dallas first expanded into Scotland in 1993 when it opened an office in Shetland, drawing on its experience in the shipping, fishing and associated industries. In 2000, the company opened a second office in Falkirk, before expanding into both Glasgow and Edinburgh in 2011. Edinburgh is also the city where its founder, Scotsman Thomas Lessels Dallas OBE (great-grandfather of managing director, Polly Staveley) started his business career in commercial shipping insurance, before founding TL Dallas in Bradford in 1919.
TL Dallas provides a full range of commercial and personal insurance services including corporate, small to medium enterprises (SME), trade credit, demolition, farming and agricultural, health and care, books and collectables and private clients.
