Catwalk for a Cause returned to The Drumossie Hotel on Saturday 8th February, with 13 warriors whose lives have been affected by life-limiting illness bravely gracing the catwalk, sharing their personal journey of strength, hope and courage.
This glitzy annual event shines a spotlight on people’s experiences of life-limiting illness while modelling clothes available from Highland Hospice boutiques. High quality items from the hospice’s retail collection were available for purchase on the night from their pop-up boutique, promoting sustainable, high quality pre-loved fashion. Perfect Therapy Inverness contributed to this amazing event by providing the models with free chair massages, helping them feel relaxed and refreshed before their inspiring runway moments.
This year, tributes honouring the late Sandra Patience, who modelled at the previous years’ event, were beautifully delivered by her dear friend and main organiser Alison McRitchie of The Head Gardener, and Sandra’s daughter Aimee Patience. Emma Nicol of Highland Hospice said “We thank Ali for her incredible work on this inspirational event, not only giving people the platform to share their individual experiences in their own words, but also for helping to raise such awareness of the work and support available to our communities from Highland Hospice and End of Life Care Together partnership. We simply couldn’t be here for our patients and their families at the time they need us most without the incredible local people and businesses who have come along to the event, donated a raffle or auction prize or given their time to help champion our cause.”
An incredible £80,070 was raised on the night, which will help the Hospice to provide care that increases quality of life by reducing pain and suffering, enabling patients and their families to make the most of the precious time they have together.
